Manager Assist

I have worked as an EAP clinician for many years now and there are a few things that I've noticed over that time. First of all most of my clients who would attend an EAP session were often hardworking, switched on and deeply caring people. People working for bigger companies and smaller companies in all of their different capacities. 

 

As a Counsellor I would meet all types from all industries, some that would be from reception, retail, hospitality and others that would be working in hospitals, law, education and more . Some clients would be managers and others were being managed. 

 

Often one of the observations I would make is that the person sitting in front of me was not always the one that was actually requiring the support and tools required to work effectively. The person in the session was getting help yes but in actual fact the issues were often in those who had not come to have an EAP session but instead were creating some type of disharmony within the business. Disharmony creates issues in business. This is sometimes due to the stress of being in leadership. 

 

Our leaders in business are there to inspire the team to thrive. It seems simple, doesn't it. And yet there often seems to be so many issues behind the scenes when it comes to leadership. 

 

If leadership has any challenges when it comes to caring and supporting others then this is a big challenge for them and the organisation they lead. Often our leadership teams experience a lot of pressure and do not know how to manage particular issues like organisational skills, true management and the sensitives and culture of people. 

 

How healthy is your team? How healthy is leadership within your organisation? It's been proven again and again that the more inspiring the Lead the more inspired the team.  The truth is that if you want to succeed in your business in every way, including financially and holistically then create a strong robust and caring leadership team.

 

Over the years when I have met with members of leadership it has been inspiring because I know that through them the precipitation occurs down into the organisation. When the Lead get support with everything from anxiety to depression, bereavement, work related stresses, addictions and you name it, then all those around them also feel supported.  The health and well-being of leadership is key to the grow and expansion of every business. 

 

To consider….

 

You own a business. You want that business to succeed. You want your team to love working with you and for you. You want the workplace to thrive.

 

But we ALL know that role modelling is the only way to truly inspire another. Then what happens when we are not thriving as a ROLE MODEL 

 

How do YOU work? What is the quality of your work? What is your true understanding of your business and every angle of your staffs strengths and duties.

 

I ask myself this all the time…
